1. Your responsibility without the plan
Under the Equipment Rental Agreement, you are responsible for the equipment from delivery until it is returned. Without the Tool Protection Plan you pay:
- the reasonable cost to repair damage, up to the equipment's replacement value;
- the full replacement value for equipment that is lost or stolen, plus rental charges until the loss is reported; and
- loss of use at the 1 day rate while damaged equipment is out of service for repair, up to 7 days.
You are never charged for ordinary wear and tear, or for malfunctions not caused by misuse. The replacement value of each tool is shown on its page and in your reservation.
2. What the Tool Protection Plan is
The Tool Protection Plan is optional. You may add it at checkout for 15% of the rental charges for the equipment covered. Florida sales tax applies to the plan charge. You may decline it and still rent.
The Tool Protection Plan is not insurance. It is a contractual waiver by TECHNICA EQUITIES LLC of part of your responsibility for damage to, and loss or theft of, the rented equipment. It does not cover injury to any person, damage to any other property, or your liability to anyone else. Check whether your homeowner's, renter's, business or contractor's insurance covers rented equipment and liability.
3. What the plan covers
| Event | Without the plan | With the plan |
|---|---|---|
| Accidental damage during normal, intended use | Repair cost up to replacement value, plus loss of use | $0 for repair and loss of use |
| Theft, reported to police and to us within 24 hours with a police report | Full replacement value | 25% of replacement value |
| Damage or loss that is excluded (Section 4) | Full responsibility | Full responsibility |
4. What the plan does not cover
The plan does not apply to, and you remain fully responsible for:
- damage caused by misuse, abuse, overloading, neglect, or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions or our safety policy;
- damage from use of the wrong fuel, oil or accessories, or from running equipment without oil or coolant;
- damage caused by intentional acts, or by anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
- damage from flooding, submersion or exposure to rain or salt water, when you could have protected the equipment;
- loss, theft or damage while the equipment is outside Florida, used by an unauthorized person, subleased, or used for a prohibited purpose;
- theft from an unlocked vehicle, trailer, building or unattended job site, theft not reported within 24 hours, or losses without a police report;
- mysterious disappearance, or equipment not returned;
- lost or missing accessories, batteries, chargers, cases or packaging;
- wear parts (blades, bits, chains, trimmer line, cleats, filters and brushes) that are broken, lost or worn beyond normal use;
- damage from improper packing for a shipped return, or from shipping by a method other than our prepaid label;
- cleaning, refueling, late return or redelivery fees; and
- any damage or loss if the plan charge was not paid.

- Before charging for damage or loss, we email an itemized statement with photos and the repair invoice, estimate or replacement value.
- Repair costs are based on actual parts and labor at reasonable rates. Charges never exceed the replacement value.
- You have 14 days from the statement to dispute a charge by replying with your explanation and any photos you took. We review every dispute in good faith.
- Undisputed charges are collected from the deposit hold or charged to the payment method on your account.
